A little this – a little that!

They Live on Rainbows

on December 1, 2011

Enjoy this sweet little poem! I wrote it like an unsung lullaby.

They Live on Rainbows:

They live on rainbows, by the firefly creek

With tiny little shoes, and hats way too large

They live on rainbows, by the firefly creek

And spend afternoons plucking guitars

They’re made of honey, and the sweetest of fruit

Never spending a moment under the sun sitting still

They’re made of honey, and the sweetest of fruit

Rumor says that their smiles cure the ill

They don’t grant wishes, they gift you with grins

Drawing or singing, they even make jokes

They don’t grant wishes, they gift you with grins

And they’ve hidden these gifts in the oaks

They go by many faces and names all around

It’s said that they live about every bend

They go by many faces and names all around

But here, my dear child, they’re called friends

I like that you used “lullaby” as a template for this poem… I can feel the rhythm and the voice singing mystical.
Thanks for “liking” and liking my poem, “Stardust.” Sharing poetry, those moments caught in words, is a wonderful thing.
Keep writing, keep revising, keep looking at the world!
