A little this – a little that!

By the Sea (Daughter of Mine)

on February 2, 2012

Here’s a song I wrote some time last year and and working to tweak a little bit. I wrote it at a time when I felt I needed to “press pause” on life and delve into God’s Word. I hope you all enjoy it!

By the Sea:

She sat there, by the edge of the water

Telling him all the things she had done that day

And as the sun set, and her hair blew in the wind

She complemented him on such a beautiful display

And He stood there and smiled, at the girl so in love

Little girl, just a child

Body on Earth, but her soul was up above

She grows older, by the edge of the city

But the waters beckon her to go meet them everyday

And while the sun rises, and her car goes down the road

She talks to Him, and asks for patience, peace, and strength

He listens intently, to the woman He raised

He touches her head so gently, and she can just barely hear Him say

(Refrain)

Daughter of mine, won’t you meet me at the waters

Daughter of mine, won’t you lay your burdens down

Daughter of mine, I’ll always love you, and hold you close to me

But we’re never alone anymore

So please meet me by the sea

She accepts it, her Father’s invitation

But taking time out feels impossible she just can’t meet

And He waits there for her, looking into the distance

But her timid figure never makes it over to the sea

He stands there rejected by the girl lost at home

Slowly disconnected, he waits for her, but her waits there all alone

(Refrain)

When the wind and the rain are pouring down

She calls out His name but He is nowhere to be found

Through her tear stained eyes, she began to realize

She’d faded away

She sat there, by the edge of the water

Telling him all the things she had done that day

And as the sun set, and her hair blew in the wind

She complemented him on such a beautiful display

And He stood there and smiled, at the girl so in love

Pretty woman, still His child

Body on Earth, but her soul was once again up above

(Refrain)

Daughter of mine, won’t you meet me by the waters

Daughter of mine, won’t you lay your burdens down

Daughter of mine, I’ll always love you, and hold you close to me

And whenever your faith grows weak

Please meet me by the sea
